Divergent takes place in a post-apocalyptic Chicago where society is divided into five factions. The protagonist, Tris, learns that she is divergent, meaning she does not fit into any one faction, and is therefore viewed as a threat by the government. The book is a gripping and fast-paced thriller with elements of romance, and explores themes of identity, conformity, and rebellion.
