Thryft believes in building a sustainable ecosystem through its processes. Supporting several non-profit organisations, our three different social initiatives aim to forge social resilience and to bridge the gaps between consumption and doing good.
This way, whether you are donating your books, trading-in for other titles, or simply making a purchase, every step of your journey with Thryft helps to make a difference.
We make all your purchases go further. Thryft’s sustainability pledge ensures that part of our profits always goes towards supporting social organisations doing the good work of tackling urgent environmental and social issues. Every quarter, we donate 10% of profits from our books to one such organisation.
For Q2 of 2020, Thryft donated to local COVID-19 relief funds to support marginalised groups who were especially affected by the pandemic. In the last two quarters of 2020, we are partnering with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Singapore to support their For Nature For Us community and recovery programme.
Started in collaboration with Books and Beer as our first donor, Books for Charity is a collection of books donated by like-minded organisations and individuals who share our vision for social sustainability. 50% of profits from the sales of these donated books will be channelled to a social organisation.
The profits from this collection are currently being donated to Methodist Welfare Services’ (MWS) Donate to Bless fund to support 1,000 low-income families financially in meeting their basic needs, and to help them handle other direct impacts brought about by COVID-19 on their lives.
Making a difference takes time. Hence, Partners for Change is Thryft’s way of building meaningful longer-term partnerships to support others in promoting change.
Under this initiative, we partner with non-profit organisations and list their books on our platform at no cost. 100% of profits from the sales of these books goes directly back to the organisations and the advocacy work that they do. For purchases made with Thryft credits, we will make the equivalent monetary donation corresponding to the credits used.
